Château La Voulte Gasparets

Since, now 6 generations, it's always the same family, which, under different names, PAUC, Grulet, BANKS and REVERDY, ensures continuity and reputation of the area.
now recognized as one of the jewels of the wine of Languedoc-Roussillon, Château la Voulte-Gasparets.
Patrick Reverdy is today, with his son Laurent, the guarantor of a tradition of nobility and quality attested by a brilliant record that dates back to the golden age of the vine, in the nineteenth century ended.
Always in search of authenticity, it is a craftsman who knows how to live in harmony with nature, who knows the respect to better understand it and collect all the benefits which it knows to be lavish.
To make a great wine must traditionally distinguish four elements. It is primarily the climate, or rather micro-climates, which must be recognized and appreciated, it is then the expertise, skill of the winemaker, it is finally the grapes, that is, -dire grapes, the winemakers chose, and finally the terroir that gives the wine its specificity. The climate, this is the Mediterranean climate, hot and dry, with rainfall rarely exceeds 500 mm per year and an ardent and generous sunshine that we want everywhere, who knows so well enrich the grapes.
And if the Mediterranean drought raging for months, it is well know that it is not an enemy of the vine, it protects the contrary and is effectively tempered in summer by breakouts wet wind sailor, so favorable to the synthesis of sugars. Another wind sweeps the region, the west wind or Cers, by far the most frequent, often violent, but also healthy and toned and powerfully contributing to the maturation of the grapes.
Regarding the vines, the Château la Voulte-Gasparets fortunately remained faithful to Carignan (50%), traditional indigenous grape that constitutes the framework and the originality of wine and whose rudeness is so corrected by the Grenache (25 %), another traditional variety, both varieties supplying the essential characteristic of vintage Corbières, plus relatively recent import grapes, Mourvèdre (15%) and Syrah (10%). Particular varieties fall further in the development of white wines: Rolle (50%), Grenache (40%) and Maccabeu (10%). These are all varieties that make up the AOC Corbières, obtained in 1985, which was recently added the appellation Boutenac.
The grape is the subject of much attention throughout his life. Monitor its growth, the size of its grains, remove some bunches if necessary, cut some shoots to give him air and expose to sunlight moderately, these are the ongoing concerns of the winemaker.
All these actions help to limit the treatments against the disease, allowing in particular to protect our environment.
At Château la Voulte-Gasparets all the grapes are picked by hand, in the desire to respect the fruit and vine. They are then transported to the winery in crates, where after a rigorous selection, they put whole in fermenter for red wines. For rosé wine, the grapes are crushed, housed in a tank that is bleeding the same evening to recover the best juices, which will ferment at low temperature. White grapes are put directly into the press, the juice from a delicate pressing, ferment also between 15 ° and 16 °.
The wines Romain Pauc, Château la Voulte-Gasparets Résevée Cuvée Louise and Paul are most appreciated.
