It was in 1973 that Alain Maurel moved to Castle Ventenac with the help of his father. After carefully observing the different climatic and geological factors, after increasing visits to the largest vineyards, and in collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture of Aude, he was one of the first to evolve the vineyard of Château Ventenac. The first decision was to start with a main idea: The quality approach has to be built from the grape to the bottle. The winemaking is a chain where there can be no weak links: This idea is declined across the entire range, the "Domaine Ventenac" to "Mas Ventenac", the latter being the ultimate expression of our land and our expertise. Château Ventenac today experiencing a transition phase with the arrival of children Alain Maurel. This transition is mainly dedicated to the transmission of knowledge, but also to the establishment of a new dynamic for Alain Maurel Vineyards. Classified controlled designation of origin since 1999, Cabardès is one of the famous wine regions of Languedoc-Roussillon, both by the quality of its wines by their originality. Indeed, the Château Ventenac region combines the mediterranean sunshine and Atlantic rainfall. This is a transitional climate which allows to present the optimum conditions for growing grapes, including the appropriate grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Grenache.
