Château Ollieux Romanis

At ten kilometers from Narbonne, on the Boutenac terroir, on the south / southeast flank of the massif of "Pinada" Castle Ollieux Romanis has 150 hectares of vineyards planted with 130 in one piece.
Carignan occupies a prime position with 60 hectares (50 years to 110 years of age). A plot, still in production, was planted in 1896 in the heart of Coume Romani (Roman combe) who gave part of his name to the field.
The cellar of the Chateau Ollieux Romanis and the barrel cellar, built in 1896 with stones extracted from the quarry of the field, crossed the centuries without a wrinkle.
The builders owners had developed an ingenious system that allowed to pour the harvest directly within 14 wooden casks without damaging the grapes, to make carbonic maceration: steel wagons, each containing more than 300 kg of grapes , pushed on rails at that time by horse and today by a tractor, convey the grapes directly from the vineyard to the cellar. You can see these trucks during the visit of the cellar.
The range of the Castle Ollieux Romanis offers a choice of 19 wines, local wines and Corbières in white, pink and red, and the famous appellation Corbières Boutenac.
In 1978, Jacqueline and François Bories resume the estate of Château Ollieux Romanis, formerly owned by the godmother of Jacqueline. They hire a manager in 1984, Jean Pierre Amigues. What follows is a "bailout" of the cellar and vineyards which will still 4 years.
In 2001, inadequate marketing and lead Jacqueline Francois to call their eldest son with them. Pierre abandons earlier than expected, his position at Banque Indosuez to completely restructure the commercial networks.
In 2005, the Boutenac terroir becomes the first "Cru" of Corbières with a purpose, to highlight the variety Carignan; September 2006, the Bories family bought the 75 hectares of the Château Ollieux (without having an expansionary policy), thus reuniting after more than a century, the entire field.
In January 2009, the youngest daughter of the family Florence, returned to the field to look after the houses and welcome you to the tasting room of the Castle Ollieux Romanis.
Cultivated for the time in viticulture, we work closer to our environment while keeping our freedom from labels. Herbicides and pesticides have already been deleted for more than 10 years all over the field. The synthetic chemical fertilizers are not used for over 15 years. They were replaced with compost made on Castle Ollieux Romanis for several years.
