Located in the Catalan region, Domaine Sol-Payré, land of traditions and contrasts, where reign the sun and the north wind, rugby and cargolade, our family estate stretches between Perpignan and Collioure, at the foot of the Alberes in the chain Pyrenean natural border with Spain.
In 1913 our story begins. The grandfather Payré, Spanish immigrant who had fled their country because of poverty, after a few years, farm worker, decided to buy a property the Domaine Sol-Payré composed of ten hectares and a superb winery planted in the heart of the old town of Elne, just below the cathedral and the cloister dating from the XI and XII century.
The vines of the Domaine Sol-Payré located on the highest terraces of Saint-Martin hillside, enjoy sunshine.
Their soil, clay and limestone, is composed of a multitude of small pebbles mixed with sandy clay; It thus constitutes an excellent support to a quality vineyard.
It is then that his son Maurice, requires diversification, plant the first vines of Muscat for the development of the Muscat de Rivesaltes. It will maintain the vineyard, assisted by her daughter Mauricette, until the arrival on the farm of his grandson, son, Jean-Claude Sol.
In 2005, Sol-Payré Domaine inaugurates new winery in the heart of the vineyards on the hill of Saint Martin. With us, it is the choice of vines guide winemaking: Each variety is vinified separately, but also dominates the exposure of plots. We finish the harvest with a score of the wines ... The vines, controlling yields, maintaining the original vines ... it is by these simple ways that we can stay in harmony with the typicality of Domaine du terroir Sol- Payré.
