Domaine Meteor takes its name from a huge hole of 220 meters in diameter and 60 meters deep, whose origin could be a meteorite, fell there about 10 000 years. We planted a vineyard (Syrah) on the crater floor and to continue the mystery we gave our wines constellation names: The Perseids The Orionids, Leonids, Lyrides .... It all started a few years ago when geologists discovered the hole in the hills and came to investigate on site. To date, the site is unrated. Since then, many geologists, astrophysicists, passionate, clients, etc. come visit and spend at our wine shop Domaine Meteor to buy a few bottles of wine. Family owned for several generations, the Domaine du Meteor Cabrerolles is located in a small village nestled at the foot of the Cevennes, Languedoc in southern France, 30 kms north of Beziers. Meteor Domaine covers an area of 23 ha. A Cabrerolles (Faugères), it peaks between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, facing south on steep slopes in schist soil, stony, dry and acidic, windy by the Tramontana off with a wonderful view of the Mediterranean. The vineyards of St Chinian is located in St Nazaire de Ladarez also on shale terroir. The planting density plots of Domaine du Meteor reached 5000 feet per hectare. These vines vines grown on slate this setting gives very aromatic wines with extraordinary structure with silky tannins.
