Château De Nouvelles

New Castle owes its name to an illustrious predecessor, Jacques Fournié Novelli, who was the third Pope of Avignon, elected in 1334 under the name of Benedict XII.
Four names rub shoulders on a vineyard of 75 hectares. The owner, Robert Castle News Daurat-Fort, combines ancestral knowledge, plowing, manure, aged in oak barrels, and modern oenology.
Lighthouse area Languedoc, Chateau News produced a legendary Fitou and a surprising array of red and white Rivesaltes.
New Castle is located in the center designations Tuchan Fitou and Rivesaltes AOC.
It is built on the site of an ancient castle of the nineteenth century. Persists today the square tower and the chapel of St. Martin. Before belonging to the family Daurat-Fort, the New Castle is spent in prestigious hands as Pope Benedict XII in 1334. In 1834, the Fort Chavanette families and redeem the property. Elise Chavenette adopts Augusta Daurat marries Fort Augustus and creates the field of unity. Today, Jean Daurat-Fort lives on the estate with his wife, his mother, his sister and his son, Jean-Rémy, who works with him on the castle.
The New Castle of the vineyard covers 76 hectares, in a valley, sunny, with steep slopes on a mosaic floor that allowed the adaptation of each variety in its field of election.
The varieties that fit into the development of Fitou are black Carignan 50%, the 35% Grenache, Syrah and Mouvrède. The amber Rivesaltes and out of age are composed of Grenache Blanc, Grenache and gray Maccabeu. Grenache Noir is the only variety of Rivesaltes (maceration fortification of grain), tiles and rancios.
