Le Château Guilhem, in the same family for six generations, is located in the village of Malviès in AOC Malepère near Carcassonne facing the Pyrenees. Gourdou Bertrand took over the Château Guilhem in 2004 succeeding his mother for 25 years has announced the Château Guilhem worldwide. By taking the family estate in 2006, Bertrand Gourdou wanted to change course of action, paying particular attention to the plant. Thus, he began in 2009 conversion to organic farming and obtained certification in 2012. The year 2012 is particularly important to him because it is the culmination of many years of work and change undertaken in its infancy. He did not exclude the idea of working in biodynamics. He tries to wine without sulfur and native yeast. The terroir of Château Guilhem is an altitude terroir (250-350 meters), with clay-limestone and marble (which is very specific). Château Guilhem produces red wines mainly from Merlot and roses with a majority of Cabernet Franc. Until then, the area was in a purely productive logic. Since his arrival, Bertrand performs work more focused on the vine, tradition and expression of terroir.
