Located east of the Corbières massif, the rugged land of Durban, Château Haut Gléon is located in the famous very limited area of the Paradise Valley.
This region, with its favorable climate and its generous land has given very appreciated wines in France and worldwide. Château Haut Gléon covers 40 hectares of vines in a set of 260 hectares of scrubland and forest, dominated by thyme and rosemary.
Le Chateau twelfth century was completely renovated in 1991 by the Duhamel family that has reconstituting a beautiful set full of history and modernity.
Château Haut Gléon has a rich expertise. If the domain has committed since 2008 in converting its vineyard in organic farming the Duhamel family has raised its wines with respect for tradition (vintage hand sorted on table) while surrounding the suitable technique (computer stainless steel tanks) and tradesmen as winemaker Robert Dejean.
Château Haut Gléon has a rich past that has its sources far in history. If the dwelling of the field was partly built in the XIII century, we find traces of the name of Gléon already in the XII century. It is in 1750 that we know the First Marquis of Gléon, as to the last he was assassinated at the field in 1830. In 1874 Hippolyte Good divides the area between the two Gléon son and it was finally in 1991 that the family Duhamel gives the name of Château Haut-Gléon ownership.
To access the area, you will leave the Mediterranean coast and face the Corbières. The road runs along a valley: Paradise Valley. Château Haut Gléon hides through the dense scrubland. The terroir of Château Haut Gléon is exceptional: imagine 40 hectares of vines in the middle of a property of 260 hectares of forest and scrubland.
So far as the many varieties of field can enrich the surrounding trees while enjoying a clay-limestone soil that combines gravel and alluvium. Finally the area is rich with a superb range of products with multiple wines with different flavors and aromas but all recognizable by their unique "flask" bottle to very specific forms, the emblem of Château Haut Gléon.
